“I am currently the Director of IT at National Merchants Association and reported directly to Jason Holderness for approximately two years while he worked there. Jason was initially hired on to build a productive team of software developers, but his talents were very apparent to upper management and he was quickly promoted to CTO. I am grateful for the time I was under Jason’s management. In team wide meetings, Jason was always prepared with an agenda and kept the gathering efficient and effective. The culture Jason created, encouraged our team members to speak freely, be heard and feel safe to do so in those meetings. Jason leveraged his past experiences in business to add value to our team without a condescending tone. His leadership was sometimes most inspiring when he would reveal to us that his feelings and business instincts were not always aligned. This transparency is another example of how the type of leader he chose to be was very effective at establishing a team of willing workers. Jason was also impressively versatile. I came to appreciate Jason’s raw aptitude and intelligence most when discussing the issues in my IT division, an area where his experience was limited. With just a few questions, he was able to grasp enough of an unfamiliar concept to assist me in making astute decisions. I would emerge from all of my meetings with Jason having been delegated clear, achievable tasks with deadlines and the knowledge that he would follow up and hold me accountable for all of them at our next meeting.
